Rafael González Gosálbez was born in Alicante, Spain in 1966. He received a degree in Spanish Language and Literature and has published three collections of short stories: Caimán, Cuba, and Bocas llenas de peces rojos. He has written, or collaborated on, a dozen award-winning plays, including 013 varios: informe prisión winner of the prestigious Premios Marqués de Bradomín in 1987. He is the author of the radio script Miguel Hernández, poeta nuestro, which was the finalist for the Premios Ondas in 1995. He also is the scriptwriter of the award-wiinning short film, El columbarium. In 1996 he received an award for his novel, El regate cola de vaca. Ella, Baudelaire (Her, Baudelaire) is his first work to be translated into English.
